Celebrations

I am officially a published author!

(OK, so maybe I should count the PTO president's letter that used to go out in the monthly newsletter but that never felt very official.)

Marilyn over at ReEnchant Planet Earth accepted my piece and we've decided to further the relationship. So, if you'd like to learn more about the practice of story in our day to day lives, I invite you to sign up for their newsletter (and maybe even consider sharing a story yourself.)

So between that and Story-Beads one year anniversary this past weekend there's plenty to celebrate over this way!

What are you celebrating?

A Quiet Feeling

~~ Summer Solstice ~~, originally uploaded by suesue2.

"How could we forget those ancient myths that are at the beginning of all peoples, the myths about dragons that at the last moment are turned into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us,once, beautiful and brave. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest being, something helpless that wants help from us.
So you must not be frightened, if a sadness rises in front of you, larger than any you have ever seen; if an anxiety, like light and cloud-shadows, moves over your hands and over everything you do. You must realize that something is happening to you, that Life has not forgotten you, that it holds you in its hand and will not let you fall."

From Letters to a Young Poet by Ranier Maria Rilke

What "dragons" of yours need to be invited for tea?

WomanQuest 2008

I am newly back from my first ever vision quest. WomanQuest is based on the Native American tradition of going out into nature unencumbered and fasting until a vision comes to you. This wasn't quite so harsh - we had a 24 hour timeperiod (sunrise to sunrise) and sleeping bags, though food was optional.

There will be many stories to come from my experience and all the glorious ladies I met while I was away. Spiders are abounding, big and small and in my hair! Spider for creativity, spider for the weaving of stories. Integration is a long, slow process but I am home so keep an eye open for new and interesting tales from one who ventured into the Spiritworld for all of you who could not this time...

What adventure calls to you in this moment?
