I bought myself a gift yesterday. I can't decide if I should go that extra (new age-y) step and wrap it up and mail it to myself with a little note of appreciation like my self-help books suggest. (I kinda want to dive right in.)
They look so nice together - the brown fuzzy socks and the colors on the book cover that so far I'm just enjoying looking at them.
What gift do you long to give yourself? What extravagant gift would you give yourself if your fairy godmother were to come along and grant that wildest wish?

Deb--GREAT book you are about to dive into, whether it be after it arrives in the mail or today. I'm happy to say I still have half of it left to read--I love to savor the books I really enjoy--and I plan to finish it...while my wife and I are on vacation, which ties in perfectly with your question.
My perfect gift for myself is some peace and quiet, some days where the hours can pass at a natural pace, and nothing is required of me except being right where I am right in that moment, and relishing it. And, I am receiving that gift beginning in just over a week, and lasting 18 days.
ENJOY!!!!
I think buying it for yourself is appreciation enough! Perhaps create a sacred space for it in your reading spot with other things you treasure. You could even take a sacred photo and show us all your new spot!
The gift I long to give to myself is the gift of healthy eating and healthy mind. And I often wished for a fairy godmother to give me that gift!!

I'd just go for it, Deb, but I'm sure you'll do what feels right!
I have that book too, but haven't read it and am DESPERATE to spend some time reading (I have been reading-deprived for days) so I'll be joining you in reading it now...it will be fun to be reading it "together" :)
Deb, what a great combo! I think I'd like a whole bodysuit made like those socks :)
I love everyone's gifts but maybe you missed the post about me being a lousy Buddhist because I love my STUFF! Who's in for an all expense payed cruise around the world for a year?!? Woo Hoo!!

I loved that book as well. I don't re-read books often and end up giving them away to people I think would like them, I wish that I had met ya before so I could have sent you the hardcover!
oh those slipper socks are my favorite things in the world. i wear mine all the time and look forward to when it cools off so i can wear them again.
you. will. love. that. book.
Yes, I loved that book. I checked it out of the library and I may have to do so again just to take notes or quotes from it.
I say dive right in but if you want a gift from yourself send yourself a sweet letter and mail that to yourself.
